Group Think Decisions

I streamed the Traitor’s US reality television show. The premise of the show is that there are Faithfuls and Traitors. The goal of the Traitors is to remove the Faithful from the competition and the Faithful are charged with detecting and voting out the Traitors.

The Traitors do a wonderful job of plotting and spreading misinformation. Consistently and frustratingly the Faithful are influenced by the majority opinion. People are selected because they don’t fit in, they disagree, or just due to personal dislike.

As business analysis professionals, we support decision-making that delivers real value. That requires us to engage our stakeholders. To achieve and deliver a successful outcome, we need to understand our stakeholders. Stakeholder engagement allows us to better work with others. By understanding goals and conflicts,  reasonable assumptions can be made as to whether stakeholders are aligned with a project or against.

Per the BABOK®, Stakeholder Engagement let’s us “define the best collaboration and communication approaches for the initiative and to appropriately plan for stakeholder risks.
